~ Update on Bill Sims ~

~ Sept. 02, 2008 ~

From David Roye:

"I spoke with Bill on the phone this afternoon. His speach is still a bit slurred, but he is in good spirits. He will stay in the hospital for a couple of more weeks for evaluation and therapy and is in overall great spirits.

He asked to thank everyone who has sent cards and called and who are praying for his recovery and to keep the faith and prayers coming in."

~ Previous Updates~

~ August 28th, 2008 ~

From Rachael (Sims):

"Dad took 12 steps today (with help and a walker), he ate turkey and dressing so is swallowing o.k. Speech is really off but he is very determined to get that back. The clot did not get to the brain so the doctor feels that he could have a full recovery if he is willing to work hard. Mom said he had a boat load of visitors today and folks checking in so I know he enjoyed that. He is already back to being bratty too.

My Mom's best friend and one of the church friends were in the room relaxed and watching TV with Dad. Mom's friend's purse was across the room and started to ring. She had to get up and walk across the room to answer it and looked at it and saw that it was Dad calling her from in the same room. She looked at him and said, This is you calling me!" and he looked at her with his half smile and told her in his labored speech that she looked to comfortable. Dad can always find a way to entertain himself :) Mom says she feels very positive after everything today.

My brother Billy, sister Debbie and myself will be going out one at a time after he is released from the hospital to just help get them set up. Move Dad's computer downstairs etc. anything to help this recovery along. I am so not ready for parents to be going through all of this. Just get the kids raised and now it's parent care time. Life is a cycle."

From Rachael (Sims):

"Please pray for Dad (Bill Sims)! He had a stroke this morning. He is in the hospital in Smithville and stable. Right side of body weakened and speech slurred.

You will never know what a blessing it was for him to see all of you. He was absolutely giddy telling Mom all about it and about all of you.

Please pray for him and Mom as they BOTH recuperate.

Please pray for me as I struggle with how unfair this timing seems to be and how hard it is to be so far away.

Gods plan is not always convenient. As soon as we know what we are looking at with this and when he'll be out of the hospital, I'll be arranging to come back out to Texas to help out."

We will post Bill and Lorna's progress as Racheal keeps us informed.
